Find answers to common questions about fertilizer application
Our calculator provides general recommendations based on crop type, soil type, and land area. For precise application, we recommend soil testing and consulting with local agricultural experts as soil conditions can vary significantly even within the same region.
It's recommended to test your soil at least once every 2-3 years. For intensive farming or when changing crops, annual testing is advisable. Testing before each cropping season provides the most accurate data for fertilizer application.
Balanced NPK fertilization ensures optimal plant growth, improves crop yield and quality, enhances disease resistance, maintains soil fertility, prevents nutrient imbalances, and reduces environmental impact by minimizing fertilizer runoff.
While this calculator is primarily designed for chemical fertilizers, you can use the nutrient recommendations to calculate equivalent organic inputs. However, organic fertilizers have different nutrient release patterns and may require different application strategies.
Our calculator automatically handles conversions between hectares, acres, and bigha. Note that 1 hectare = 2.471 acres = 6.177 bigha (standard conversion used in North India). Regional variations in bigha measurements are accounted for in our calculations.
